He has a long experience in Rural Development policy initiatives covering all CAP schemes and other income supports for farmers. He is a member of various working groups in Brussels through COPA the overall European umbrella body of farm organisations.

Dan Clavin is an Organic Specialist with Teagasc. He leads and supports the delivery of the Teagasc Organics programme and works with a range of stakeholders in Ireland and abroad. Previously he worked as a Teagasc Farm Advisor in counties Galway, Limerick and Kerry and as a Conservation Officer with BirdWatch Ireland in Donegal. He is from a farming background in Co. Westmeath.

Declan has been the CEO of KLP since 2009.  Before that he was the CEO of one of the foundation companies of KLP- BNS Rural Development from 2004.  In over 20 years in the rural development sector with LEADER, Declan has been directly involved in the project management and development of scores of projects and responsible for hundreds more.  Areas of interest to LEADER include- value-added food production, renewable energy, rural tourism and social enterprises.
